A World First.

We have developed our own proprietary process to create our Spirulina MicroBuds. We take our Spirulina and wrap it in prebiotic fibre. You won’t be able to see the difference, but you will definitely be able to taste it.

The fibre removes the traditional flavour from the Spirulina, and leaves a mild pleasant taste. The fibre also protects the sensitive nutrients inside the Spirulina from degradation over time. And it is prebiotic promoting gut health! Pretty amazing.

Our Spirulina MicroBuds still have the same health benefits regular Spirulina has. It is still mostly Spirulina after all! It’s packed full with minerals, vitamins and antioxidants. Furthermore, we use no heat on our Spirulina. It is freshly harvested, prepared and freeze dried to ensure it is as nutritious as the moment we harvested it.

The science of Spirulina.

Studies have found that Spirulina supplementation might lower the blood levels of LDL cholesterol (sometimes called “bad cholesterol”). It might also decrease triglycerides blood levels.

Spirulina contains up to 75% protein and contains all 9 essential amino acids. Spirulina is an excellent source of the amino acid tryptophan. Tryptophan is tied to the production of serotonin, melatonin and vitamin B3.

It is naturally very low in simple carbohydrates like sugar; the main carbohydrate in Spirulina are mesoinositol phosphate. It is an excellent source of organic phosphorous and inositol. Inositol is a type of carbohydrate that make up parts of our cell walls and helps regulate the activities of several hormones. Inositol is of particular interest due to its roll in insulin regulation.

Spirulina supplementation has been found to lower oxidative stress in the body, which can have anti-inflammatory effects. This is also of interest to athletes as it can improve recovery time and increase peak muscle strength. It has also been found to improve time to exhaustion for endurance athletes.
